Club career

Sharbini began his professional career with NK Rijeka in the Croatian Prva HNL in the 2002-03 season.[1] He also played for Al-Wahda FC (Abu Dhabi) and FC Luzern.[2]

On August 13, 2009 he signed for Hajduk Split with his brother Anas Al-Sharbini. [3] He struggle to impose himself at the club and rode the bench for most of the 2009-10 and 2010-11 season.

With new signing Ivan 'Giga' Vukovic joining Hajduk in the summer of 2011, Ahmad found himself as the third choice striker for the upcoming 2011-12 season. Due to injuries to both Ivan Vukovic and Ante Vukusic, Ahmad played as a lone striker for a period of games. He scored two goals in a 4-0 win against NK Zagreb and earned much praise due to his consistent hard work.

International career

Sharbini played in the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Trinidad and Tobago.[4] He also played for Croatia national under-21 football team. He was capped last on 15 August 2006, against Italy national under-21 football team. He can represent either Croatia or Syria at senior level.

Personal

He is the brother of Anas Al-Sharbini.[5] His father, Jamal Al-Sharbini, is a Palestinian born in Damascus, Syria. Jamal came to Rijeka in the early 1980s as an economics student. His mother, Ranka, is Croatian, born in Grobnik, near Rijeka.
